SXN 300 Fashion Design Studio with Caroline Simonelli

Professional fashion designers gain experience creating a garment at the highest level as you take a personal journey in artistic development and elevate your technical skills to couture level. Start with mood boards, customer muse profiling and progress through the entire creative process employed by creator designers - the croquis book, final sketches, and swatch selection. Go from moulage making to muslins, and toiles to show a worthy garment. Fit techniques, luxury fabric sewing and couture finishing is stressed. Final segment covers how to define a recognizable label and build a brand. More advanced students make toiles and more than one garment.
Enrollment is limited to 16, professional designers only. Portfolios and/or sample work must be brought to first session. Some additional expense for necessary materials.

SXN 322 Beginning Fashion Drawing Studio with Steven Broadway

Don't let lack of training hold back your fashion ideas. Learn the basics of drawing the fashion figure using photo references in this studio designed to teach novices line drawing and progress from drawing real life body proportions, both male and female, into stylized fashion figures. Figure proportion, poses, faces, hands, feet and basic garment shapes and details will be covered with simple exercises for students to work on. Excellent for portfolio development and as preparation for SXN 324 and 325.
Bring to first session: 11"X14" marker pad and tracing paper pad, assorted markers, color and graphite pencils and various magazine images of poses and clothing. Class limited to 15.

SXN 324 Fashion Drawing Studio with Steven Broadway

Trained artists draw live male and female fashion models in a variety of media to explore and further develop your personal artistic expression and your enthusiasm for fashion. Experience plenty of live demos and visual references to stimulate your creativity and help you, particularly if you are in the fashion biz and working in CAD most of the time. Rediscover your passion for drawing. This course is not for beginners.
Bring to first session: 14"X17" marker pad, 3H drawing pencil, and assorted coloring pencils and magic markers. Bring any recent work for evaluation. Additional materials expenses approximately $25.

SXN 328 Fashion Design Portfolio Tune-up with Steven Broadway

Designed for professionals who want to freshen up and reboot their portfolios with new illustrations, flats, fabrics, direction and mood to update the overall look. Students have their current fashion design portfolios evaluated and suggestions will are made for updates in the areas of both design and illustrations with lectures and demos. A model will be booked occasionally.
Bring to first session all art supplies you enjoy working with, your current portfolio, sketchwork in progress, magazine images to draw from, fabric swatches, trims and anything else you need for your updated portfolio.

SXN 515 Makeup Artistry: The Master Class with Lindsay Ebbin

Conducted by an internationally recognized makeup artist and authority, this special opportunity is for working stylists, image consultants, events planners, and cosmetic professionals. Through demonstration and a visual but interactive lecture, learn how to determine color trends in makeup, design the perfect color palette no matter the skin tone, and advise clients on the color palette that's right for them. Sociopolitical influences, the fashion business' impact on color preferences, and the "face" look of the season are explained. Tips on being a great makeup artist, including simple techniques and makeup kit essentials, are included.
Attendees should wear little or no make up for in-class demonstration. Although not essential, if attendees have makeup and makeup brushes they should bring them. Box lunch included.
