- Small class size will allow for individual attention to each student.
- You will build upon your understanding of American culture.
- You will have the opportunity to practice your conversational English.
Additional benefits:
- You will also participate in on- and off-campus activities designed to acclimate you to FIT and introduce you to the fashion industry and New York City.
- You will have the opportunity to practice your conversational English.
- FIT’s Chelsea campus is only moments from major New York attractions and historical landmarks such as the Empire State Building, Grand Central Terminal, the Statue of Liberty, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Times Square.
*Availability of this program is subject to sufficient enrollment.
Eligibility- Students not admitted to a degree program at FIT for fall 2010 are not eligible to participate in the Summer IELP.
- The Summer Intensive English Language Program is strongly recommended (but not required) for students who score below 92 on the ibT (internet-based TOEFL) and those who score below 8 on the IELTS, especially:
- Students admitted to the one-year programs. While these students are not required to study English for their degree, they do have to write research papers and give oral presentations in English in their major classes. This is often difficult for them. This program offers a wonderful opportunity to develop stronger skills in English and begin the fall semester with more confidence.
- Students in any degree program who plan to do an internship and maybe even work in the U.S. While international students may have impressive portfolios and experience, they often lack the required oral and written communication skills in English to be able to compete and succeed in the workplace. This program will help you get an early start on perfecting your skills for interviews and job placement.
- Graduate students are not required to study English at FIT; however, they have to write research papers and give presentations to professionals in their fields. The program assists in helping them become members of the academic and professional communities
