Registering

We encourage students to initiate contact with our office. Making that first phone call on your own is a way to acknowledge you are ready to take on the responsibilities of being a college student. It’s easy! We will need for you to give us your documentation, which is reviewed in our office upholding your confidentiality.

Students with disabilities should register for services once admitted or registered for classes. Registering with FIT-ABLE is not mandatory, but in order to receive accommodations you must be registered.

Registering is a two-step process:

 Step one:
Mail, fax, email or hand deliver your documentation to verify your disability:

Mail:                    Office of Disability Support Services
                            Room A570
                            Fashion Institute of Technology
                            227 W. 27th Street
                            New York, NY 10001
Phone:                (212) 217-4090
Fax:                    (212) 217-4091
Email:                 fitable@fitnyc.edu
Hand Deliver:    Room A570 (Due to construction on campus the FIT-ABLE Office is most easily accessible using the "B" building elevators or stairs. DO NOT take the "A" building elevator or stairs).

 Step two:

All students must have their first meeting with the Coordinator, Disability Support Services. This meeting can take from 30 minutes to 50 minutes, so schedule accordingly. Bring with you your new FIT ID number (the @number), your schedule of classes if you’ve already registered, and your documentation, if you haven’t mailed it or faxed it to us. Schedule appointment
