On-Campus Housing Consideration Based on Disability
To evaluate requests for on-campus housing accommodations based upon medical, psychological or disability-related conditions, FIT requires documentation that includes:
- A diagnostic statement, including the date of the most recent evaluation
- The diagnostic criteria or tests used
- Treatments, medications, devices or services currently prescribed
- The current impact of the condition
- The expected duration, stability or progression of the condition
- The credentials of the diagnosing professional
- Social, behavioral and emotional evaluations
In addition to the basic documentation, recommendations from the treating professional are given consideration in evaluating the request. Recommendations should:
- Provide clear descriptions of the recommended housing configuration
- Connect the recommended configuration to the impact of the condition
- List alternatives to the recommended configuration.
