In April 2009, FIT dedicated a seminar room where classes in knitting, crocheting, and jewelry-making are held to the late Isidor Blumenthal. The Blumenthal family, owners and operators of the Lion Brand Yarn Company, the oldest American yarn brand, are long-time supporters of FIT. The company celebrated the 90th birthday of its president, Isidor Blumenthal, with a generous donation toward the building of the Conference Center at FIT. David Blumenthal, Lion Brand CEO and Isidor Blumenthal's son, among those who attended.
