Marybeth Murphy

Marybeth Murphy is vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Success at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). As chief enrollment officer for the college, she is responsible for the development and management of student enrollment and marketing strategies. 

Ms Murphy is responsible for creating initiatives to support strategic recruitment, improve retention and graduation rates, and for maintaining a high quality of on-campus life through athletic, cultural, and recreational activities, and robust student support resources. Ms. Murphy oversees enrollment services for the college which includes the Office of Admissions and Strategic Recruitment, the Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, the campus card initiative, and the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).  In addition, the vice president oversees the Office of Institutional Research and all student affairs offices including Athletics and Recreation, the Counseling Center, Disability Services, Health Services, Residential Life, and Student Life.

Prior to joining FIT in July of 2009, Ms. Murphy was assistant vice president for enrollment management at Baruch College (CUNY). There she developed numerous student-centered initiatives, such as a new transfer service center and a new welcome center for all visitors to the campus. Before Baruch, she served for 20 years in various roles at New York University, rising from the position of financial aid counselor to assistant vice provost and university registrar. In that capacity, she was responsible for the $100 million university enrollment and financial aid policy planning process for NYU’s 14 schools and divisions. For six years, she was the university’s director of planning for enrollment services. She also worked closely with the directors of admissions, financial aid, housing, and student life when, for five years, she served as director of planning and evaluation for the division of student affairs and services.

Ms. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and comparative literature from Farleigh Dickson University and a Master of Arts degree, also in English and comparative literature, from Columbia University.
